Computed from the route using assumptions, because the question cannot be answered precisely yet. Every one of these can differ from what you end up paying.
- Road distance, which is a straight line with a detour factor applied
- Driving time, which comes from an average speed rather than a road route
- Airfare for a corridor no provider could quote
- Food, from a per-person daily allowance
- The car and its fuel
- Parking, tolls and roadside costs, which are one allowance rather than a forecast
- A nightly rate for a stop with no live quote
4.AI-assisted
Chosen or interpreted by a language model. Exactly two things: which places belong in the trip and in what order, and how many nights each of them gets.
These are suggestions rather than calculations, and they are checked before you see them. A place the catalogue does not have is dropped, and nights that do not add up are re-spread.
5.User-controlled
Yours, and they stay yours. Outrouted does not overwrite any of these.

6.The rule underneath all of it
Never show an estimate as though it were a quote.
Everything above exists so that rule can be enforced rather than asserted. If a figure cannot be traced either to a provider or to a calculation, it is labelled. If it cannot be labelled honestly, it does not go on the screen.
